Review your current home loan rate, features and structure with refinancing guidance for Australian medical professionals.

Start with the policy, then compare the full loan

A refinance can reduce costs, improve loan features or restructure debt, but switching is not free. A useful review compares the current loan with realistic alternatives after discharge fees, application costs, valuation, break costs and any loss of existing benefits.

Our medical mortgage brokers help you understand the evidence, trade-offs and next steps before an application is submitted.

Important

All lending is subject to credit assessment. Rates, fees, profession lists and eligibility can change. A benefit described on this page is not a guarantee of approval or suitability.

A useful review considers
  • Your current rate, fees and remaining term
  • Offset savings and repayment structure
  • Switching costs and break-even timing
  • Your future property and borrowing plans

What to review before switching

Start with your current rate, remaining term, balance, offset savings, repayment type and future plans. Then compare alternatives on the same basis. A lower advertised rate may not provide a better outcome if fees are higher, the term is extended or useful features are lost.

The right comparison uses the same balance and remaining term, then adds realistic switching costs and the value of features you actually use.

Medical income still needs to be presented clearly

Even if you already have a home loan, a new lender completes a fresh assessment. Doctors, nurses and allied health professionals may need current evidence for overtime, allowances, multiple employers, contracts, locum work or private-practice income.

How we help

  1. Clarify your goals, timing and financial position.
  2. Identify lenders whose current policy fits the scenario.
  3. Compare rates, fees, features and conditions.
  4. Help prepare evidence and coordinate the application.

Frequently asked questions

Concise answers to the questions medical and healthcare professionals commonly ask.

When should a medical professional refinance?

Consider a review when a fixed period ends, your rate has become uncompetitive, your equity or income has changed, or the loan no longer supports your plans. A review does not always lead to switching.

Will refinancing reset my loan term?

It can if you choose a new longer term. That may reduce repayments but increase total interest. Ask for a comparison using your existing remaining term as well.

Can I refinance to access equity?

Potentially, subject to valuation, serviceability and loan purpose. Borrowing more increases debt and interest, so the purpose, amount and repayment plan should be clear.

What is included in a free 20-minute home loan rate review?

The initial review can cover your current rate, balance, remaining term, estimated equity and priorities. It is an early comparison, not a credit approval or personal financial advice.
